With renewable electricity and energy efficiency improvement measures already found across multiple production locations, Volkswagen Group China is also proactively involved in the supply chain, encouraging effective measures to reduce carbon emissions and achieve sustainable development.

大众在华MEB工厂采用可再生电力

今年以来，大众中国大力推进脱碳工作，携手合作伙伴扩大可再生电力的使用。其位于安亭和佛山的两家MEB工厂已通过分布式光伏、直购电、可再生电力证书等方式实现100%采用可再生电力，并通过多种节能设备降低生产能耗。

While decarbonization efforts have been ramped up this year, renewable electricity use is not a new concept for Volkswagen Group China and its production partners. In addition to being built with eco-friendly features and diverse energy-saving infrastructures, its two MEB plants in Anting and Foshan are supplied with 100 percent renewable electricity through the installation of on-site solar photovoltaics (PV) as well as the direct purchase of renewable electricity and certificates.

In the procurement sector, Volkswagen Group China is driving the sustainable management of the supply chain for long-term growth by influencing suppliers to use renewable electricity to reduce carbon emissions.

大众中国携手中国合作伙伴与供应商，制定了可再生电力使用路线图——到2030年，其燃油车和电动汽车供应商均将100%使用可再生电力。

Volkswagen Group China is working together with its partners and suppliers in China to set up a roadmap of achieving 100 percent renewable electricity usage by 2030, covering both ICE and NEV suppliers.

Concerning battery supply, Volkswagen Anhui has fully implemented a project that sees batteries installed on the plant’s first model – starting production in the second half of 2023 – to be produced with 100 percent renewable electricity, seven years earlier than the 2030 goal.

Volkswagen Group China is strengthening the sustainability requirement in its procurement system in multiple other ways.

2021年，集团加快推进可持续发展绩效评级，从工作环境、职业健康和安全等多个维度对供应商的可持续发展管理系统和实践进行强制性评级。

In 2021, it stepped up its S-Rating program in China, a mandatory rating of suppliers’ sustainability performance, now covering suppliers for NEV production. With this professional tool, the group assesses suppliers’ sustainability management systems and practices from a variety of aspects, including working conditions and occupational health and safety.

截至2021年底，可持续发展绩效评级已覆盖1050家中国供应商，电动汽车生产供应商均已被纳入该评级体系。其中，大众安徽首款新能源车型的所有200余家供应商都获得了正向评级。

As of the end of 2021, the S-Rating covers 1,050 suppliers in China, with more than 200 production suppliers for Volkswagen Anhui’s first NEV model obtaining a positive rating.

探索负责任的电池原材料采购，扎实推进供应链低碳可持续发展

Responsible sourcing of raw materials for batteries, especially nickel, cobalt and manganese, and using recycled components in new battery cells, are also key elements in the group’s vision of a sustainable supply chain.

Some Tier 1 suppliers have set up ambitious targets, including targeting to halve production-related emissions by 2030 and become fully carbon neutral in all emissions by 2040.
