1Scope

ThispartofISO4892specifiesmethodsforexposingspecimenstoxenon-arclightinthepresenceof moisturetoreproducetheweatheringeffectsthatoccurwhenmaterialsareexposedinactualend-use environmentstodaylightortodaylightfilteredthroughwindowglass.Thespecimensareexposedtofilteredxenon-arclightundercontrolledconditions(temperature,humidity and/orwetting).Varioustypesofxenon-arclightsourceandvariousfiltercombinationsmaybeusedtomeet differentrequirements.SpecimenpreparationandevaluationoftheresultsarecoveredinotherInternationalStandardsforspecific materials.

3Principle

3.1Axenonarc,fittedwithsuitablefiltersandproperlymaintained,isusedtosimulatethespectralpower distributionofdaylightintheultraviolet(UV)andvisibleregionsofthespectrum.

3.2Specimensareexposedtovariouslevelsoflight,heat,relativehumidityandwater(see3.4)under controlledenvironmentalconditions.

3.3Theexposureconditionsmaybevariedbyselectionof
